NATURAL / ARTIFICIAL by Fabrizia Bettazzi

Daniela Donati's paintings, like in a modern art debate, move amid these two distinct poles, though joining from the two extremes in a complementary manner.

The artist's work represents Nature through modernity and technology, an ambivalent filter that we are maybe not able to fully comprehend.

Donati's pictures recall a strong latent background tension of the glowing town dimension of a flourishing futuristic city...

Donati's art takes us to the natural pole, but is immediately transfigured by a disenchanted eye, which can no longer be a naked eye foreign to the massmedia dimension.

This is how the works offer hints of Pop commercial art, with an immediate vision of the artistic object in itself, like cartoon or TV landscape sceneries, which so much of our Roman Pop art has made us view in contrast with a merely mimetic landscape.

What is more, Daniela Donati's art reveals an intimate search to capture the deepest spirit of the landscape.

The artist ignores the natural colours, capturing the interior colours and spirit of the location with fantastic vision.

This personal transfiguration of landscape gradually takes on a dreamy quality, a fantastic relaxed vision or at times a tangle of branches and dry twigs expressing an interior intricacy, which once again softens and reassures like an image of brilliant and bright colours from childhood.

What we see is direct, naive, unreal, fanciful, something we would see in a daydream of the present and past in pictorial snapshots miraculously transformed by natural and artificial bright colours.

There is a delicate filter between us and nature, Donati's personal filter. Daniela Donati represents her emotion, pictorial essence, intense poetry, limpidity of the soul, incarnation of the beauty of nature, her "work in progress".
