It is only by fully engaging with Mirek Antoniewicz extraordinary pictorial stories portraying a child that one can feel a bond with his poetic artistic language. The first thought that sprung in my mind was that every grown up has once been a kid, but not many can remember it. Being a dreamer is part of my nature and i find myself immerging into memories of the past. This is the reason why i have felt drown by the masterly paintings of Mirek Antoniewicz, allowing myself to be transported by the series of vibrant emotions they can transmit. An intense, yet poetic memory of the flowing movement between what is, what has been and what is yet to come. Behind his work i can perceive the tenacity of someone who has not been wishing to be modelled by life s path itself, by avoiding its cliches and the banality of what is considered as the norm. I can sense the intention of persevering in imagining, in dreaming, as well as the awareness of someone willing to transform the whole situation trough his sensitivity and patience : a misterious kid, wise and silent. His silence is that of those children who dream, remember, dance… with their minds and hearts to escape the harshness of their pain. In every work there is a representation of a sort of onirical coreography whose colours are earthy, tied to those of nature and pervaded by a unique light. The reality experienced by such a child is an authentic and pure for of truth, offering me chance to have a confrontation with the world’s varied facets and with life itself. Mirek Antoniewicz’s paintings are gifted with a particular communicative nature and have the ability to relate to fairytales of the past and present. A child who does not set in it any time frame, who carries me weight of a backpack on his shoulders. A child who becomes the director of a circus which does not exist. A child who leaves with a luggage against is will, going for a trip he would have never chosen to do. An altruistic and amused child, who awaits for the pigeons. All in all Mirek Antoniewicz presents us a vivacious reality, animated by encounters, adventures and surprises, by the pair and impositions of our human condition. There is a feel of artistic traditions from far away which is embedded within Mirek’s painting. His light is pervasive and atmospheric. In other words, it has been, it is and it will remain a music of colours and dreams: a beautiful personal language which speaks an universal language. The language of life itself.
