Serbia. In the footsteps of Stephen Uros Dusan

Serbia, born from the extension of power by Stefan Nemanja and his dynasty, from the mid-twelfth century, reached the zenith of its glory with the reign of Stephen Uros IX Dusan.
By this time dozens of beautiful monasteries were founded, still present and with a vibrant religious and social life. In them you collect fabulous pictorial masterpieces which include among others fresco cycles that probably influenced the culture of Italian art headed to Giotto, perhaps learned the art through notebooks of drawings that had been circulating for the Adriatic.
The defeat of 15 June 1389, in which Murad defeated the Serb forces led by Serbian Prince Lazarus in the historic battle of Kosovo Polje, Serbia did fall under the Ottoman rule (1459-1804), but was not cleared one set of the most beautiful jewels of Byzantine art.
