Guatemala. Tierras Mayas 2/2
Workshops , Guatemala, Antigua Guatemala, 03 January 2012
In the wonderful visions of people, colors and nature of these lands Maya feels a constant tension between life and death, an obsessive relationship with the concept of the border.
Everything is marked by a condition, a persistent bond with the idea of barrier, and is found in everything.
For example, the 37 volcanoes determine life with the warmth of the earth, yet he decreed the destruction, the rains of the jungle (donated by the god Chac) give life, but have buried the story of a people dominated by huge trees that are generated, the perennial battle between good and evil generated dictatorships and abundances of corn, bananas and fruits of the earth, poverty and riches well selected.
The boundaries between life and death, even today are the context of everyday life as evidenced by the barbed wire around houses or the bars at the entrances of shops open, armed men in front of each place of business, young mothers and extreme religious devotions in a mystical syncretism that combines Mayan ancestral rites and Catholic heritage of ancestry colonial.
In these lands, the limit man, the boundary with themselves is consistent, as conscious, everyday life and the color becomes not only appeal to their own history, even chasms energy to overcome the despair and oblivion.
