VENICEARTHOUSE - VAH01: TO HAVE OR TO BE?

VeniceArtHouse is an artist residency project organized and promoted by Cà Zanardi in conjunction with Art&forte LAB, which means to favor and encourage the creation of artwork by offering working spaces and visibility to he artists adhering to the project. It’s an opportunity for the artists to live for a few days in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, muse over the centuries to many great painters, writers, playwrights, photographers and film directors. Cà Zanardi is an entirely restored ancient palace, located in the historical center of Venice, which is unique as it comprises within the same complex the Art&forte LAB open-space. The latter is one of the last industrial spaces, built at the end of the 19th century, still present in Venice and, moreover, the last still accessible for contemporary art.
During VeniceArtHouse, Cà Zanardi will become a guesthouse for artists, while Art&forte LAB will become an ample atelier dedicated to the artists, where they will be able to produce a work of art which will be presented to the public and the press during the final evening of the residency.
The theme of residency VAH01 is “To have or to be”: a meditation on today’s society, afflicted by a materialistic culture and with its state of being evermore in crisis, which the artists will have to render into artwork. During the frantic Christmas shopping rush, this residency wishes to expand upon the concept of the loss of identity on the part of contemporary man, who becomes more and more determined by his ownership status.
