Beck Wheeler, Pepper Pets
Exhibitions, Italy, Reggio Emilia, Reggio nell'Emilia, 16 June 2012
First Italian exhibition for Beck Wheeler, a young German artist who lives and works in New Zealand. Her latest works will be showcased in Reggio Emilia at the boutique style gallery CSArt (Via S. Pietro Martire, 16/A), from June 16th until August 31st, 2012.
The exhibition presents fifteen works - sketches and sculptures - made out of found domestic objects such as sieves, whisks, wooden spoons and can openers. To quote Chiara Serri’s critical text, «The artist creates a fantastic bestiary, combining found objects and bright colors, that can be related to childhood».
Imaginary creatures seasoned with pepper - the body is made of wood grinders - with a hint of irony, because art, as explained by the artist herself, doesn’t need to be “serious” to be good.
The opening will be on Saturday, June 16th at 17.00. The exhibition runs until August 31st, 2012. Opening times: Monday to Friday 9.00-12.30 and 15.30-18.30 or by appointment. Summer holidays: from August 8th until August 22nd, 2012. For more information: info@csart.it - +39 0522 1970864.
