"PORTFOLIO"

I met Roberto Mannino Wing Mazzoniana Termini Station in 1996 and exhibited at the XIII Quadrennial in Rome and four years later in my gallery exhibiting his works in San Gemini presented with a text by Mario de Candia, who writes as ". . in the work of Roberto Mannino (them) look not so much to the formal aspect but rather the process. " Roberto Mannino prefers that the matter is the handmade paper with natural materials like cotton, flax, abaca and hemp paper in its future is therefore privileged. Besides the search for Mannino has always been set on the matter in transition, using soft and malleable material. In 2003, Roberto Mannino participate in experimental research on innovative techniques for printing on handmade paper, in collaboration with Handpapermaking Magazine, where he was issued a Portfolio. After this experience continues his search with the overlap of the different steps of materials and techniques: combination of handmade paper, the press and intaglio printing. An interesting aspect of this work is to create watermarks in relief, the result is both a tactile and visual perception. In this exhibition, PORTFOLIO, exhibits works of small size, with inserts of writing and monotypes, where a stretch material is inserted by hand in a context of perception of various signs. Fascinating work, obtained by superimposing the frame of the pulp paper of different colors still wet and then dried. The origin of the work of Roberto Mannino is summarized in an article by Alessandra Vitale, appeared on Inside Italy - the living art magazine in the February issue of 2007. The Roman artist for years has used the paper to create original and varied works with the technique of papermaking, which developed in the 60s in the U.S. as experimental research in the '80s and became established as a means of artistic expression. " Even Tiziana D'Achille, in his presentation in the exhibition catalog "PAPERWORKS" of 1999 at the Galleria Comunale d'Arte Contemporanea Ciampino airport, said: "Roberto Mannino recorded his work on the paper forcefully entering into the structure of the material, going the stages of manufacture craft ... "
Roberto Mannino is a Professor of Sculpture and Drawing at Temple University, Loyola University and Cornell University Rome Programs .. She has taught printmaking at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
