INTERNATIONAL ART SYMPOSIUM JAHORINA 2010
The Art Symposium Jahorina was created on May 1st, 2003, and ever since has been held annually on the Olympic mountain Jahorina, hosting great numbers of artists from Japan, China, Germany, Check Republic, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For this year’s concept, the eighth in a row, the Art Symposium has a central theme, “The Human Figure In Contemporary Art”. According to that, The Counsel of the Symposium sent invitations to artists from many countries of the world. Artists whose work is in figurative painting and sculpture with a range of styles and a wide spectrum of individual understanding and transformation of this topic.
Creative freedom and individuality are enabling the view on actual movements in contemporary art and are in accord with the international character of this symposium, which is supportive of multiculturalism and the exchange of experiences, in a friendly and professional environment.

TOPIC OF THE SYMPOSIUM:
FIGURE IN CONTEMPORARY ART
LARGE FORMAT
DATES OF THE SYMPOSIUM:
JULY 15TH - JULY 24TH, 2010
WORKING CONDITIONS:
For all artists, attendants of symposium, the organizer is providing:
-studio space, acrylic and oil paints
-row canvases sizes:, 200 x 160 cm, 180 x 160 cm, 160 x 140 cm
-easels, palettes, nylon…
-choice of wood for sculptors
-model for figure painting/sculpture as needed by artists



ANNOUNCMENT:
It would be desirable if artists would bring their own brushes, painting knives, wood carving tools for sculptors, or any other tools specific for the individual processes you use.
ACOMODATIONS:
For all artists, members of symposium, the organizer provides free of charge:
- Hotel room with breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Coffee, juices, fruit, and cakes are provided for daily use in studio space
- One full day excursion to the city of Sarajevo
- One full day excursion in nature and then lunch in the Hunting Lodge
- Cultural program in evenings, projection of documentary films…
-All artists will reside in one of the hotels on the beautiful mountain Jahorina, the host of 14th Olympic Winter Games, 20 km from the city of Sarajevo.
ARRIVAL OF THE ARTISTS:
All artists have to arrive at the Hotel Bistrica on Jahorina on July 15th, 2010.
Artists who are arriving by air, train or bus, will be picked up at the Sarajevo Airport, bus station Sarajevo or Pale, or the train station in Sarajevo.
Artists who are arriving by their own car will be met in the hotel, and the organizer will give information about the best routes. The organizer can be contacted by mobile phone.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE ORGANIZER:
-To exhibit the works created at the symposium in numerous galleries throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and possibly internationally.
-To print a catalogue in color with the reproductions of the works and the biographical information of the artists.
-To mail catalogues and all related information about the exhibits to all attendees of the symposium.
-To preserve the works made during the symposium in the collection “Art Jahorina”.



OBLIGATION OF THE ARTISTS
- Artist is responsible for the cost of travel
-Artist is responsible to create and donate one work of large format and, if possible, one work in small format; sculptors one sculpture in wood on topic “Figure in contemporary Art” according to his/her own sensibilities and artistic tendencies.
-Artist is responsible to transfer all legal authority over the work donated, for purposes of exhibitions, reproduction for catalogue, calendar, sale and other artistic uses.
-Author is donating work to the organizer.
