Silvia Casilli and Mirko Cervini expose at Ariele Ariele Art Gallery in Turin.
The works I chose, in order to be exposed during this event, are nine 'paintings of photographic nature'.They are abstract compositions realised with elements of nature, such as wild flowers, grass, leaves, seeds, berries, mashrooms, barks and musk. The digital shots did not undergo any retouch or alteration and they have been taken manually with a simple 35 mm lens.
These works are part of the research I have been carrying on for many years about the pictorial possibilities of the camera. I am not interested in easy games or accidental events, but I look for intentional compositions and aware balances.
These works, in particula, are part of a project for a catalogue of Finnish nature colours. I started this project in 2011 during my permanence as artist in residence at Saksala ArtRadius Centre in Haukivuori, Finland - a centre directed by the Dutch artist Marja de Jiong. It is, therefore, a sort of herbarium, or better a lyrical version of it.
After a first and limited presentation durin 2012 Parallax Art Fair in London, Ariele Art Gallery will host up to nine of these works for a fortnigt.
The opening will be on Saturday 6th April at 6.00 pm. The works will be visible till 20th April.
