The young artist Velislava Gecheva presents her latest paintings created in the technique of encaustics. Her starting point is the sea, the water surface and the movement.
Due to the specificity of the technique in which hot melted beeswax, plant gum and pigments are being heated, her works are close to abstractions. The artist achieves rich material with complex overlays and interruptions, which are reached also by chance.
“By the intervention of the gesture I create the conditions,” says the artist. Interestingly, all the movements of this living matter are absolutely unique. I like to experiment and it is challenging to work in this ancient technique
