OPENING Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 17.30 at Milan Cultural Association Sassetti
The collaboration between the Milan Sassetti Culture Association, to his hundredth year, and Dr Francesca Mariotti of the Cultural Association of Ferrara Olympia Morata. This exposure is seen in the perspective of exchange initiatives between the two cities of Milan and Ferrara, providing an exhibition in Ferrara in March 2012. It continues with a theme very dear to art in its history: THE PORTRAIT and 'SELF. THE FACE, in its infinite nuances and symbolism, in its infinite expressions and emotions, will be the focus of attention to make the point about the contemporary importance of this subject is now.
An interesting survey on Man-artist and on humanity, understood as a sociological and psychological research that explores and expresses the contemporary artist through the representation of the face, "mirror of the soul." The art of the portrait will not be so laudatory only research carried out with somatic and refined stylistic technique, but also a new window into the reality of emotions in the complete sense. Painting photography and sculpture are linked together and intertwine to give us images of men and women that is not the "beauty" but the "significance of the signifier" that captures our attention.
It is not the reality, cold and frozen, in these fascinating people, but their lives, their passions, the world around them and that is part of their peculiarities in life.
PORTRAIT becomes the medium of something very deep and heartfelt, not a reproduction of reality, the photo left the task of "copying" and pass on the real. So today we find this dichotomy between the TRUE artists, portrait artists that skillfully perform a still image on the subject to pass a memory, and artists in a certain way "expressionist", in which the work is intended to be a means of expressing a character, an emotion, motion of the soul, which does not always translate into external reality. False colors, lights / shadows follow, as accentuated expressions, impossible perspectives create "soul portraits" that hold the emotion that comes from a time, even if just the artist, showing the "dark side" that we can grasp. So even in the same contemporary developments in photography as in painting and sculpture, new technologies and skill development, have been successfully "pictorial" in that direction.
This exhibition will give a small example, and perhaps a chance to reflect on this interesting and practical topic always existed in art.
