Andreco for "Cuore di Pietra". Public Art in Pianoro.
Exhibitions, Italy, Bologna, Pianoro, 20 October 2010
CUORE DI PIETRA . A Public Art Project in Pianoro.
Curated by Mili Romano

Second annual appointment for “Cuore di pietra” (Heart of stone), a multi year public art project which started in 2005 to follow the urban requalification plan of the town of Pianoro. During the past five years, it has promoted
many artistic projects that have been gradually leaving signs in the public space. They are shared and “recognised” by the community, as a result of a collective participatory approach and of a network of collaborations with public
institutions and various local organizations.
OPENING October 20th at 15.30: Piazza dei Martiri, sidewalk on Via Gramsci.
Andreco will produce a wall painting in which he links the urban future of Pianoro to its territorial and identity icon, the whale, as well as to its genealogical history. He is working with several writers from the youth centre Pianoro Factory. In this way, he will leave to everybody an invitation to consciously plan and work on the walls and to take continuous care of them.
The work is a drawing in progress. Like caves’ walls, where carvings of incisions of symbolic and fantastic signs told stories of everyday life events of the time, Andreco’s work interprets a piece of history, and describes its evolution. A town is born on the back of a huge cetacean, (perhaps related to the Val di Zena whale, and to the archaeological artifacts that have been
found close to Pianoro), starting from a single house that gradually evolves into a village and finally into a city. The city grows harmoniously at the same time as the animal, as if they were two symbiotic living organisms. It is alive
and an organic system in continuous change that deserves nourishment, time and care, culture and environmentally sustainable practices. This is what the artist and the entire “Cuore di Pietra” project have suggested during these long years of activities and commitment.
