PIER CALLEGARINI, Trevigiano of the Light, IN THE 1ST INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF ART OF PALERMO

On Thursday, January 10th, in Palermo, was inaugurated the 1st International Biennial of Art of Palermo.

Pier Callegarini, after Arte Padova 2012, where some of his works had been noted and reported, was present at Palermo with four of his Tripled: Future, Constellation, and Baciami in the Loggiato St. Bartholomew and It’s moon, finalist for the award CAT 2012, in the red room of Theatre Politeama. Works that, as always, impressed and excited, also Vittorio Sgarbi, who defined Callegarini the Trevigiano of the Light.

Biennial of Palermo is an important event for the city and for Contemporary Art in Italy: an event was born, in fact, that under the direction of the art critic Paolo Levi, wants to give space to contemporary artists and their search for innovative techniques and new ways of expression, without forgetting tradition and the great artists of the ‘900.

The path of the Biennial runs through three beautiful buildings of Palermo: the Loggiato St. Bartholomew’s, Villa Malfitano-Whitaker and Theatre Politeama. During the day on Thursday, attendend by Vittorio Sgarbi and political authorities, was the cut the inaugural ribbon of the exhibition and the opening night occurred at the prestigious theatre of Palermo. Levi and Sgarbi, in their speeches, have focused on the importance of dialogue between today’s critics, art historians and artists themselves; dialogue that must be sincere to allow artists to really grow.
