Saturday, 24th March the GiaMaArt studio gallery presents ‘ALCHIMIA DEL BUIO’ (“Alchemy of the Dark” ), personal exhibition by Linda Carrara that includes a cycle of unedited works spanning from 2011 to 2012.

"Alchemy is the pursuit of knowledge, of wisdom, of the philosopher's stone. It is not, as it is well-known, a merely material ambition but also a soul-searching, spiritual and philosophical one.
For Linda Carrara, it is the exploration of the dark, shadows, deep and unknown. It is a voyage into our minds, into the most intricate and unexplored caves, into places where we have not yet had access, into territories that we have ignored or never before seen. Because, it is only where Man has no capacity of sight, that he acquires vision as the Ancient fathers used to teach (just think of Tiresias, the blind who became clairvoyant). In the dark space Man strives to see, to understand the shadows, chasing every whisper of every little sensation and perception; he explores the world, physical and tangible, the intangible and evanescent. Knowledge manifests itself from the state of light to that of darkness, not so much in an unidirectional path but in one of oscillation in its motion. The vision comes in an intermitted light.
“When we think we have grasped the meaning it is right there that it eclipses”, “Only a slight distance away from the madness we discover so many new things”, these are some of the titles of the works of this new "cycle" of the artist, real extracts of thought which overlap the image providing an additional key to its interpretation. Her works are, however, arbitrarily evocative, suggestive, never universally decipherable. Suspended precisely between light and dark areas, where the reader is called upon to penetrate.
