Matsu photographers gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of a new generation of artist working today. This will be a first solo exhibition of young Japanese painter Shinnosuke Sugita at Matsu in London, and will feature his series of paintings (portrait) called “unnamed floret” and also his recent drawings.

Shinnosuke sugita was born in Shizuoka, JAPAN 1984 who currently lives and works in London, studied fine art in Chelsea College of art and design, UAL.
A background of his works is a mixture of various visual experiences in nowadays that are especially influenced by Japanese Manga culture and a fantasy of picture book which has been read when he was a child. His painting style has been influenced by traditional painting techniques in the era of Renaissance and pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. However he won’t apply the techniques in traditional way. He employs the techniques to draw manga styled human figure as a portrait. Those paintings show us new visual experiences “realistic fantasy”. His painting embodies a spirit in the senses of new generation who is living in between virtual world and reality.
