Lectures, Italy, Bologna, 20 May 2011
I would like to thank everyone who was able to come to Bologna and listen to speakers on the theme of networks for contemporary art - Mili Romano of the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna, Giorgia Boldrini for the Iceberg Project, and artist Laura Bisotti.
There is much in the video http://vimeo.com/23961633 personally, I believe that a network has to establish for its members realtionships which can last in time, in an environment full of possibilities, which lead to work opportunities.
18 May:
Open meeting at 6pm in the Aula Magna of the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna, Mili Romano, lecturer in cultural anthropology and I, will discuss contemporary art networks.
Laura Bisotti, winner of Premio Iceberg in 2009 and Premio Celeste 2010, and Giorgia Boldrini, head of the Iceberg project for young artists in Bologna, will join in the discussion.
To what extent can a virtual network help in the creation of artwork and planning of artistic events, in view of the current situation in which public funds for cultural events are lacking? What are the advantages and limits of working in an art network? What sort of approach should arts professionals have towards networks? Can internet platforms be a place where projects and creative work are put in practice in the real world?
The meeting will also be an occasion for Bologna based artists to gather information about submitting works to:
Premio Celeste - http://www.premioceleste.it/premio/
Premio Iceberg - http://www.iceberg.bo.it/notizie_dettaglio.asp?id=62
Open Studios Bologna - http://www.celesteprize.com/eng_artista_projects/idu:15362/idn:220/#220
