Another project of the highest social value is to be held in Milazzo in the days following 24 to 27 May 2013.
The glass room Paladiana of the Municipality of Milazzo, as in previous years, will be the setting for the fifth edition of "The smile of Roberta for UNICEF."
The UNICEF project this year is "combating infant and maternal mortality in Afghanistan"
UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia, Daniel Toole said that "Afghanistan today is without a doubt the most dangerous place to be born."
According to the annual report of UNICEF, the UN agency for children, the "State of the World's Children."
Afghanistan has the second highest infant mortality rate in the world.
1,600 mothers die for every 100,000
134 children per thousand die in the first year of life
199 out of a thousand before the age of 5 years.
The event aims to give practical help through UNICEF to mothers and children in Afghanistan, a country ravaged by war indefinitely.
The presence of numerous artists of many nationalities who are giving or promised to donate one of their works for the realization of this project, to comfort the organizers hope to repeat or even surpass the success of the event in May 2012 dedicated to Palestinian children Strip Gaza.
All the works donated by the artists will be on sale with a minimum bid during the event and all proceeds will be donated to UNICEF and will finance the project "Fight against maternal and child mortality" in Afghanistan that the Provincial Committee of Unicef and Messina Association Roberta Smedili have adopted for their business for the year 2013.
