Prize calls, Italy, Pisa, 19 September 2011
The ACROSS Association invites video makers, filmmakers, artists, writers, novelists, journalists from Pisa, Hamburg and Bilbao to present videos on the theme of migration.
The three cities have always been destinations and origins of exchanges and comparisons between different cultures. They are three “border” realities: three strategic locations for migratory flow in Europe, naturally overlooking the sea.
Participants are asked to submit audio-visual works that reflects on migratory dynamics, human relations that are established, mix of traditions, perspectives and consequences of moving from one place to another.
The issue of migration can also be understood as transition between one situation and another, one time and another, between one place and another: change and shifting time and space.
The theme of migration can be shown through different keys: social, political, cultural, artistic, documentary and non-fiction.
Videos will be selected by the Across artistic committee and presented during the Across Day, an event dedicated to migration, designed to explore realities related to the theme, to meet languages, authors, and different points of view.
Participants must be professionally and/or artistically active in one of the three cities chosen for the open call: Pisa, Hamburg, Bilbao. The three cities of reference apply only to the authors: the places and locations presented in the videos are free. Pisa, Hamburg and Bilbao have been chosen for the first Across Day because they are closely related to the life experiences of the Across founders. Across’ goal is to expand gradually the experience of the open call to other European cities to create a network in a multicultural context.
The Across Day will be held on Thursday, 6th October 2011 in Pisa (Italy), at the Cinema Arsenale. A selection of authorized works will be broadcasted on the Channel FareTV and presented on the Across website.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
City of reference: Participants (video authors or screenplayers) must be professionally or artistically involved in one of three cities: Pisa, Hamburg, Bilbao.
Registration fee: none, the participation is free
Screening format and duration:
dvd video (video signal PAL) SD / HD – Max 30′.
English subtitles are welcome.
Video credits must include the city of reference.
