“Urban Wayfarer”
introduced by Cristina Del Ferraro
Wednesday 19th October Giusy Lauriola opens her solo exhibition in the Mo.CA location, with six large and 10 little oil made canvas and a video, realized during 2011.
The project “Urban Wayfarer” is introduced in an engaging “Continues dialogue” between the painter and the curator.
Centre of the narration is the town, always important in Lauriola’s thought, where the attention is on some people, described, as they were wayfarers, wandering aimlessly and with no identity. The vision of this wandering is lived, as it were a metaphor of existence: an uncertain travel, in which we have an unclear identity that is not ours, the result mostly of a cultural imposed structure and by a genetic heritage.
Individuals with non-feet and faces. Lauriola remembers that we live on a planet in continuous rotation in the infinitive space, while we receive an illusion of stability in the uncertainty of the fate we live. Our lives are suspended in the space and time given us: everything we can and must do is to improve them.
In this suspension a possibility comes from the described couples, always young. Only the exchange and the closeness open new solution.
