The Management of the Asylum Fantastic Fest and the Department of Culture of the City of Valmontone, under the supervision of the Artistic Director Claudio Miani, announce the opening of the contest Le Radici, a journey into the depths of the Earth.
The contest is open to painters, sculptors, designers and photographers who, through their expressive form, feel able to portray one of the many facets of the unconscious.
40 artists will be selected for the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art which will be set up on the occasion of the Second Edition of the Asylum Fantastic Fest, at Palazzo Doria Pamphilji in Valmontone (RM) from 13 to 16 May 2021.
Following the enormous success of the 2019 Edition (www.asylumfantasticfest.com/prima- Edizione) which saw more than 2,500 visitors, over 30 Italian and International Guests, which brought together different cultural and expressive forms such as Cinema, Music, Art , Literature and Comics, the Festival Direction has decided for this year to assign two different awards: the Asylum Award (assigned by the technical commission) and the Public Award (assigned by the public by vote).
As for the First Edition which saw the presence of many prominent figures of contemporary culture such as M. ° Pupi Avati, the actor Alessandro Haber, the Director of Photography Luciano Tovoli; the English writer Ramsey Campbell, the Irish designer John McCrea, the Master of special effects Sergio Stivaletti, the screenwriter of Dylan Dog Giancarlo Marzano, the designer Paolo Di Orazio, also in this Second Edition many will be the guests who will gradually be revealed to enrich a parterre that promises to be rich and varied.
In addition, the 40 selected artists will become part of the Delux Asylum Catalog - [bi] Sogno Interior which will be presented in international preview at the Festival. The winner of the Asylum Award will receive a prize of €. 200.00 (two hundred / 00) and the curatorship for a solo show to be held in the Third Edition of the Asylum Fantastic Fest (2021), the winner of the Public Award will receive a will card for the Third Edition of the Festival.
The opening of the Exhibition scheduled for Thursday 13 May 2021 will see the participation, as Main Sponsor of the entire project, of Cantina Collepicchioni, the main Italian label that will be present with its own prestigious wine list.
The selections are open to Italian, European and non-European artists, without age limits, and working in different artistic fields. There is no participation fee in the Selections and each author can present a maximum of two works. The selection is up to the Commission in charge whose judgment is unquestionable.
Requests to participate must be sent no later than 10 March 2021 to the following e-mail address: asylumfantasticfest@gmail.com and must contain:
• Image in pdf format of the work, the maximum size of which must be contained in 50 x 70 cm;
• A word file showing the description of the work itself (title, year of realization, technique, measurements);
• A word file with the author's personal data;
• A word file with self-certification of authenticity of the work and release for the exhibition.
All the selected artists will be announced on the website www.asylumfantasticfest.com by March 15, 2021 and contacted personally by email. The Management reserves the right to close the selections early if the number of 40 artists is reached before the deadline of the Contest.
A contribution of €. 50.00 for management and organizational expenses.
The artists are therefore invited to send the requested material in good time, to verify its completeness and provide any communications of further requests from the Management.
