Intrinseco - personal exhibition by Anna Montalto (review)

Intrinsic: "something related in the intimate essence or nature of a thing or a person." It is not a coincidence that the title of the exhibition of this artist takes this name and there is no better definition that can summarize the leitmotif of shapes and colours.

Ladies engraved with a mixed technique to say just extraordinary, which seem to leave out from billboards Art - Nouveau, popular in decades at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The artist was born and is formed as a publicist, and love of older fathers of the first commercials in which its technic, while improving and giving a personal interpretation. Women are at the heart of his work: do not include statically, unarmed, but are always in complete transformation as she; the artist wants to underline the constant search for beauty that surrounds it, with the task of inspect and secure it in an image.

We feel vibrate this spiritual and aesthetic beauty in the room where he exhibited the collection "Sensibus", in which women are portrayed sensual, captivating and bold features, who know how to attract the viewer with their looks and their mouths, and they seem sometimes softly something undefined. The colors are bright, as if they had a taste and a smell; "inherently" bind the viewer in an invisible link, where you can hardly pass over an artwork without having carefully observed several times. These women represent spirituality, which the artist search and refine each design: every woman who portrays is a part of itself, which evolves and improves. We must put aside the appearance to dig in his soul woman and artist, an often dangerous combination to understand.

The artist makes a very important inner work: it is as if self representing in each work attempt to let out the best part of if, after laid bare without taboos, having seen and discovering herself in his canvases. By her art seeks to purify herself from everyday life and the degeneration of man, that dirty and scrub everything beautiful. This is the first time that Anna Montalto offers a personal exhibition: architect and Pygmalion of this great discovery is Eugenio Santoro-his curator and gallerist-who accepts the challenge to take her in his "Home-Gallery". What I consider really amazing of Anna is his sensitivity, his pure art without imperfections, the touch of sensuality that puts into his work, managing to create a sort of pleasurable and spontaneous intimacy without making them vulgar. The Gallery also claims that it will be a big surprise, and is already thinking about his burgeoning artistic future. Soon we will see his works exhibited also in Madrid.

Finally, making the point, I believe that the works of Anna Montalto really do vibrate the hearts and minds of those who watch. The art is a kind of talisman, a good luck to preserve and store inside if, where, as in a temple, everything is sacred and where body and soul are inseparable. His drawings vibrate as his heart and the colors radiate the crystalline lens of the spectators, formulating the perfect recipe for success.
