Surabhi Saraf “Grains” live at Asian Art Museum, on May 30th
24 May 2013
The new performance by Surabhi Saraf has been developing for two month in collaboration with Ian Smith-Heisters who's is the creative coder working on the live visuals.

GRAINS is a live audio visual performance that deals with expanding the sonic energy that resides in a single grain of sound. The performance explores the visual and sonic amplification of domestic food grains and their transformation into a collection of solid grains that flows like a liquid as they multiply. Layering her vocals on top of the flowing grains, Surabhi weaves a rich tapestry of sounds, multiplied and fragmented, creating dynamic textures and immersive architectural soundscapes.

In this first-time collaboration with Ian Smith-Heisters, the visual space is transformed by projections that pulsate and live with the sound, magnifying the granular energy of the performance.
