The first performance of Fold at the Root Division Gallery, San Francisco, USA on 7 May. A few days later, 20- 22 May 2011 FOLD will be Screened at the Athens Video Art Festival 2011.
FOLD is a humanized version of Surabhi Saraf's recent video FOLD -- a choreographed exploration in collaborative folding, where 12 performers fold laundry per a routine. FOLD celebrates the mundane by taking a private, solitary activity and presenting it, multiplied, drawing our attention to the subtleties that we tend overlook in our busy lives.
Performers: Sarah Woods, Vera Yin, Ashley L. Saks, Josi, Arvind Krishnamoorthy, David Mulford, Andrea Thompson, Kishori De, Raquel Miller, Aaron Cortez, Simran Thadani, Diwaker Gupta
Surabhi is a media artist working in video, sound and performance. She is currently a resident artist at Root Division, San Francisco, USA.
