Palazzo Reale in Milan: Thursday, February 16 to May 20, 2012, the exhibition Titian and the birth of the modern landscape, sponsored by the City of Milan - Culture, Fashion, Design and the Royal Palace, in collaboration with Civita and GAmm Giunti, who has published the catalog. (click: LINK article already online in the exhibition). We receive and gladly publish here, on the subject of the invention of landscape art in a speech of Gustavo Bonora: It is said that a letter of Titian's Emperor Philip II born the word "country" and the knowledge of the landscape in its modern sense. By Titian that is brought into the world the paradigm of the landscape, I find it a little 'forced, because, even in memory, it seems to me that, from the Hellenistic mosaics Pompeian painting, as in all the iconography of celebration, one contemplates the landscape as a complement of the narrative, which is the background of the mythological representations, chronicles, or religion, the landscape is the order of the narrative necessity.
