A special day of performances, streamcasts, exhibitions, interviews, and network events as part of the Celeste Prize days in NYC will take place at The Invisible Dog Art Center on Nov. 11, 2011. Visit The Celeste Prize website starting to learn more and to access the Celeste Lab streamcasts beginning at at 2pm (NY Time) on Friday. The Celeste Lab project, hosted by Roberto Paci Dalò and David Weinstein, can be heard on ARTonAIR.org streaming live from 7pm - 11pm. The streams from sites around the world will continue to be available throghout the day on Saturday.
Along with the Celeste Lab streamcasts visitors to The Invisible Dog Art Center will see exhibits of painting, photographs, video, installations, and performances. Each global participant has its own content using streams displayed on-site for the local public. The Celeste Lab streamcast from The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn, as well as direct feeds from worldwide partners – a form of classical radio broadcasting plus internet streaming – is a mix of live interactions as well as recordings in a free-style production of different media (sound, video, performance, net, radio, and conversations). ARTonAIR.org will host live programs and will be a radio studio made visible - and tangible - to the public attending The Invisible Dog.
A component of the exhibition event is Producing Censorship, an exhibition and panel which explores new forms of censorship. Curated by Aria Spinelli and Jason Waite, the work reflects and intervenes on the conditions of information production, the apparatus of power and its relationship to new forms of censorship.
At 10 pm on Friday, the Celeste Prize awards in a variety of media will be presented by jurors Eugene Tan & Sara Reisman.
The Invisible Dog is located at 51 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, New York. Opening hours: 11 November: 2pm to midnight, 12 & 13 November: 10am to 6pm.
