Baby Kerosine

Baby Kerosine

Painting, Human figure, Oil, 213x213cm
I continue to explore a number of themes in my work through intelligible, figurative subject matter. Duality expressed through a range of styles and techniques, I'm interested in the transient, the
unobtainable now and the beauty and terror of that dynamic. The fictitious quality inherent in the images, such as in the hyper-colours of 'Baby Kerosine', are fabricated and can thus assert
subjectivity as a quality, without romance or sentimentality.
The subject is photographed multiple times, cautiously composed, and these photos become the starting point of the paintings which depart
as I apply and remove and re-apply the oils, layer by layer, intuitively.
The result is necessarily ambiguous, beautifully twisted for eternity, that moment now lost.
