MARIE'S BABY (the Jeweler - version for Woyzeck Primo Studio)
Woyzeck, a poor soldier lives with Marie and their child.Woyzeck earns extra money for his family by performing menial jobs.Marie has a sexual relationship with a drum major who gives her jewels. When Woyzeck discovers this affair he kills Marie.
The effects on Marie’s body compose the Woyzeck’s narrative meaning:the jewles in exchange for injuring the flesh represents the atavistic theme of the differences of social classes and of the power games associated with gender roles
However, Marie’s Baby also represents the brutal violence often carried out on women leading to murder.
Violence on women has not boundariesand spares no race,no nation, whether industrialized or emerging.Violence on women has no social-cultural limits, belongs to every social class. The greatest danger is often within the family. According to OMS, one out of every five women, in their life time has been a victim of physical or sexual abuse by a man(Sdamy)
With Marie's Baby, i’ve tried to shift the attention to the baby:the arguments between the parents, it’s the children who suffer the consequences
