Installation, Political / Social, 800x400cm
Come & Go is an installation which consists a book and an envelope wall. Each envelope on the wall contains a person that has been executed on death row in one specific jail in the U.S. The word stated on the envelope is the very last word the prisoner has said before being executed. Inside the envelope you'll find all kinds of personal information like their name, age, weight, mug shot, place and what murder they committed. The envelopes are all closed, the information is hidden away from the viewer. On the back of the envelope you're able to read their full last sentences. The wall is made chronologically stating from the prison's very first execution in 1982 till this very day. You could state that the installation is an analogue info-graphic showing that a large quantity of data can still be very individually based and very much so readable. The wall will keep on growing as the executions will keep on taking place. And so will the book keep on getting thicker and thicker until the death penalty is stopped..
