Io ti vedo
This artwork portrays a transient humanity, capturing a fragment of daily life in the undifferentiated and scattered space of the underground. The crowd, reified and massified, mirrors itself in a long-lost, yet undesired ideal beauty, which modernity has had replaced with the lay figure’s far cheaper and serialised artificiality, symbolising spiritual death, de-centring and depersonalisation.
However, among a multitude of blind gazes and mute words, a little girl’s awake and curious eye peeps out, still capable of ‘seeing’…
