Moon

"Moon" expresses thematic ideas that are often seen in my work: The juxtaposition of human activity within the natural world, and my fascination with color and night-time subject-matter. But beyond any self-conscious references to nature versus culture, this painting is about the rush of feeling experienced in the presence of the incongruous energies from a discarded human past and a frenetic human present, under the canopy of a sweeping ancient sky. In a moment, that past and present are not experienced as separate entities, but as a simultaneous unity.
