le grand bleu

I'm a painter but I just love taking photos, they are great inspirations for my paintings, just like reading and music. But I'm only an amateur photographer..Back in the past I used to have my photos developed on paper. All the bad pictures, and of course I had plenty of them, were stored in a box and at the end of a painting session, instead of throwing the remaining paint , which would dry anyway , I would just indulge in the most satisfying, gratifying activity, of painting over glossy photos. I just love the combination of the matte and glossy effect , the way the paint flows so easily and the way the picture is just magically created , very intuitively, spontaneously and impulsively...it's almost like magic. Strange enough the paintings created this way always end up visually representing the concern of the moment...in that case, the gulf of mexico oil spill.
