Sakura Nipponica or Compex Simplicity

Sakura Nipponica or Compex Simplicity

Painting, Symbol / Letter, Still life, Acrylic, 152.x91.5x.3cm
From a distance viewer can see simple still life setting with symbolic to Japan blooming sakura flowers, tea set and miniature zen garden. With closer view some details will show like:1945 Japanese kanji characters on the table, two sets of Kana characters on the rising sun shape vase (Hiragana and Katakana). On the background wall there are about 100 Japanese words and brands carved in the aluminum support, those names are engraved in the vocabulary of our western society.
This work is from my "Alphabets, or one body, many languages" series and painted in memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki victims.
