Fantasy
The work manifests both a totemic comforting aspect by its size and soft form and at the same time it mirrors the strange otherness and abyssal dimension within our selves with its raw material, expressively painted patterns and its transcending, monstrous existence. The piece somehow comforts and seduces while at the same time disturbs the viewer. For what is on the other side? Do we really want to enter and confront it?
“Through Fantasy we learn how and what to desire” (Zizek),
We never get redemption -but we get to experience the enigma of fantasy and desire.
