Carrington Revisited

Carrington Revisited

Painting, Landscape, Oil, 170x170x3cm
"Carrington Revisited" was the first of a series of paintings that looks to be a lifelong commitment. As with "Four Corners" it shows my response to the land where I spent my formative years. Once cultivated farm land (I used to play with the farmer's daughter) is now home to the training grounds of football teams Manchester City & Manchester Utd. My mother still lives there but I have to visit the land 4 times a week as my son plays for Man. Utd Youth team. Shell Oil also have a refinery oil plant there, the inverted electricity pylons are a reference to this. The use of the colours & circles are reference to the Hopi Circle of Life, in that we must respect each others culture & try to put back what we've taken.....
