contours, resembling pieces of an open frame. The other level, at the heart of
the canvas, is the “beyond”, which leads the eye towards something whose shape
and end cannot be sensed. It’s like watching the detail of a sort of universe,
at times hazy and shaded in greens (turned to jade with droplets of gold), at
times intense in deep navy.
In the duality of the planes a space – invisible and mental – takes form and
is imagined as a passage, a wordly opening which reveals a depth. An imaginary
door open to interpretation: while the opacity of mixed media calls forth the
“unessential”, where we are unconsciously projected everyday, the intense blue
of universe embodies a projection towards the depths, the hiddenness, the true
essence of being, as in the old anthropic dualism. On a timeline, that opening
becomes a longing, a sort of tension toward infinity, where infinity is the
chance that other dimensions exist, other than the one we know.
