Fw/Rw _ The Fire
FORWARD / REWIND is a cycle of 5 video installations. Each video revolves around one of the natural elements: Air - Water - Fire - Earth, as the focus and symbol of the relationship that all individuals build with the environment in which they live. Relationships which are photographed in their many variations.
The Videos want to metaphorically mirror the concept of human existence and the concept of Time in its various implications. Given today’s instability and uncertainty and the historical context in which we live, these reflections take on special meaning. There is an urgent need to rewrite behavior patterns and to create new anthropological models which can be adapted to novel demands and to new relational and environmental emergencies.
FIRE as energy and potential destruction, WATER as a resource and threat, EARTH as a giver of life and transformation, AIR symbol of change and existence. It's very difficult to control natural elements. On a larger scale, it's impossible.
Very few things disturb me more than the duality of nature as found in the elements themselves; one moment it nurtures you and the next moment it kills you.
