The ‘How To Read Rorschach’ series makes use of the Rorschach, or symmetrical blot, as a one-time psychoanalytic tool, symbolising our desire to read-in, no matter how I might disrupt such a process. The paint references the forces that generate form. The body is seen, presented, in the tactile reading of pressed paint, which blooms on a pure white surface. Such a surface references the Modernist tradition for a utopian rational-focus of mind. Yet beneath all this is the silk support, which like a skin or woven womb remembers its ‘mother’, the worm, spinning a space of genesis. The white ground seems to become just another figure, like the liquid blot, on the unthought ground of the silk support.
