Biennale d’Art Contemporain Sacré Menton, 01 - 31 Octobre
Menton, a city dedicated to the arts, will be the seat of the Biennial of Contemporary Sacred Art from 1 to 31 October. This major exhibition will be hosted by the Grand Hôtel des Ambassadeurs, Palace Belle Époque which is not just a hotel in its own right, but a large art gallery. After the controversy, Trascendence The first edition of the BACS jumped to the headlines in 2019, in its first edition, thanks to the sculpture "Notre Dame des Innocents", which became part of the permanent collection of the event. Performed by Munich-based Dutch artist Daphne Dubarry, the monumental bronze sculpture has been interpreted by feminist and family planning groups as an attack on women's freedom to abort. Now, this sculpture has a much higher meaning. But this is in the past. This year's edition is dedicated to Transcendence, the highest spiritual state, to which every human being must aspire and reach. Committees The president of the Biennale, the filmmaker (but also a great patron) Liana Marabini brought together in the two Committees (Honorary and Scientific) personalities from the world of culture and the arts such as Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Jean-Luc Marion of the Académie Française, Princes Nikolaus von Liechtenstein and Sforza Ruspoli, both great collectors, Daniel Boéri of the National Council of the Principality of Monaco, Fr. Kevin Lixey, international director of the Vatican Museums. Or the Mentees Jean-Caude Guibal, mayor of the city and president of the C.A.R.F .; Françoise Leonelli, curator of the Cocteau Museum; François Jacquot, collector; Michel Imbert, art historian. 160 artists exhibit their works Also this year the participation is rich: 180 artists from 18 countries, including France, Italy, USA, United Kingdom, Russia, Mexico, Sweden, Holland, Finland, Vietnam, Switzerland, Principality of Monaco, Austria and others. A section of the Biennale is located in Munich, where an exhibition by Brian Finch will be active in the Art Gallery of the Archdiocese until January 31, 2022. Missing Masters have a large space on the main level. There are Fontana, Kandinsky, Rothko, Matisse, Basquiat, Twombly, Liechtenstein, Morandi and others. The Living Masters are exhibited in the Cocteau Room, the Terrace and the Garden: Richter, Boulukos, Finch, Banksy, Yoshimoto Nara, Wesel, Nalbandian, Kusama, Yoko Ono etc. Emerging artists find space in the Grand Foyer and in the Salle Cocteau. Among them, the Mentonnais Varotto, des Aubrys and Fretey. The Disciples are artists who perfectly execute the technical methods of the great Italian and Dutch masters of the XV-XVII centuries. They are exhibited in the Boutique. The permanent collection occupies the first floor of the Palazzo: Rauschenberg, Tilson, Pistoletto, Langlands & Bell, and many others are part of it. Italica is an exhibition conceived by Mauro Marabini and his blog Alter Italia (www.alter-italia.com) which brings together about thirty artists who pay homage to Italy. It occupies the three rooms of the GAM Gallery. Rivieras Spiritual Book Fair (www.salondesrivieras.com): will take place on 9 and 10 October in the Salle Cocteau and will be open to the public passionate about literature. It is the result of the collaboration between the French writer Bernard Laboureau and the Italian bookshop Emporium. Authors, publishers, specialized journalists, booksellers, literary critics have come together in this show full of registrations. Guest of honor: Éditions du Cerf. Other events Concerts, film screenings, round tables and workshops dedicated to the world of art will take place during the Biennale.
