"ANIMA"

The work was made with a mixed techique because graphic and pictorial tools were used. infact, the use of graphite, charcoal and dry pastel, make the woman's face very expressive. Acrylics have been used on jewelry in order to make it realistic.
The woman, seen from the front, has her head stretched back, with her face tilted to the right symbolizing the allegory of the soul, in its deepest essence.
The soul is the vital principle of humanity, of which it constitutes the immaterial part, which is the origin and center of thought of feeling, of will, of moral coscience itself. Its meanings is connected with the idea of breating and mobility, characteristic phases of life.
The soul is localized in all that is considered as an essential part of the living self: therefore also in the image reflected in a body of water or else where, or in that which appears in the pipil and in the shadow.
The woman depicted in the work sighs and her gaze seem turned to an indefinite point. Her soul is suffering and resigned but uncorrupted by sin. The diamond necklace symbolizes its purity. The immobility of the shadow reflected on the opaque background defines the universal meaning of the immortality of the soul.
