"LA RESILIENZA"
The work was done with dry pastel on smooth cardboard. The colors used range from blue to Yellow, orange and red, creating a strong chromatic effect for the entire composition. The woman rapresented in the work is a Geisha who symbolizes resilience. Resilience in psycology is a concept that indicates the ability to cape with traumatic events in a positive way, to positively reorganize one's life in the face of difficulties, to rebuild oneself while remainig sensitive to the positive opportunities that life offers, without alienating one's sensitivity. Geisha in japanise culture is defined as a work of art in movement, which translate into italian as a performing artist, high-class professional entertainer, trained from an early age to various form of art, from music to singing, from dance to painting. For me, she in is emblem of resilience, because she is a talented and indipendent woman who does ot break down in the face of life's adversities. This concept is rapresented by the Phoenix draw on the sleeve of the kimono. The hand on the chest and the face tilted to the left, indicate the soul that is rising from its ashes. The umbrella idealizes the movement and strength of existential rebirth. I dedicate this work to all woman victim of violence who must react and renew themselves, without suffering any further abuse.
