Brunilda

What inspires me is to see the beauty of decay in old flaking walls or in the aged wrinkled skin.
Each painting is the result of a slow "self-challenging" process to what is essential. Lines are drawn and scratched deep in the layered matter through the canvas. In the dynamics of rebuilding and breaking down the many layers of paint, “lived” paint skins are created.
They are masks, identities with their own name and their history seen in the multi-layered structure with scratches and holes. In my recent work, the canvas has been cut out of the frame. These works, apart from the frame, stand alone and symbolize for me a sense of individuality and freedom and above all they show the beauty of vulnerability
