"PSICHE"

The work was done using dry pastel, soft and hard pencil on rough cardboard. The figure symboliezes the femal psyche and passionate feelings of woman. For the creation of this allegory i was ispired by the fable of "LOVE AND PSYCHE" of the latin poet and writer APULEIO. The woman's expression is thought: the gaze is absorbed, turned towards the viwer. Her lips, soft and fleshy, are parted, as if singhing. The hands on the face, one of which resting on the fore head, together with the position of the arms, with the elbows resting on ideal surface, create a typical gesture of a woman waiting for something elusive. These attitudes made me think of the image of the beautiful Psyche who anxiously awaits the return of eros, a symbol of the wild vitality of the male instinct.
Many artists of the past have wanted to pay homage to this beautiful fairy tale with works of inestimable valve. I wanted to highlight in particolar the mood of Psyche, which I consider the true heroine of history.
