TITLE OF THE OPERA: Sahara
DESCRIPTION / INTERPRETATION
The work describes Africa seen through the pages of an ancient geographic atlas and tends to focus attention on its desert surface, the true wealth of our planet. The small-format book was made with the collage technique, thin layers of hand-painted paper draw the geographical diversity of this enormous territory.
The colors of the sand alternate with those of the earth and the sea, at the center like a beating heart the shape of the continent painted in gold is visible, the preciousness of the material tends to emphasize the prosperity of its resources and its potential. In the back, a handmade paper acts as a cover and its warm color envelops us in a meditative atmosphere that recalls the image of the endless expanses of the desert.
TECHNIQUE
Collage with antique papers, oil painting, gold made with special pigments and emulsions.
