In this untitled work I have tried to bring in the differences between what is naturally given and what is culturally imposed. I have brought together various species from the natural world and juxtaposed them in an urban domestic kitchen setting. I have deliberately used aquatic creatures like the jelly fish, angler fish and the sea horse whose world is not gender biased. Within their world it’s the male who even bears the offspring and raises them. The cactus which is from the wild desert is also tamed within the domestic space and ornamentalised. What I try to bring is the alienation and fragmentation which happens within the domestic space imposed by the disciplining structures of the patriarchal society. This restrictive and polarizing patriarchal order is culturally imposed and is not naturally given.

certainly disturbing scene of a home kitchen! full of amazing life and pain inside, we can see through the window an exhuberant, logical Nature outside. Painting of emotional questions? of a dream? of a mind puzzle?
