Nautilus

The work shows a Nautilus, mollusc existing since the Paleozoic age, it is in fact a "living fossil", this term was coined by Darwin to indicate those organisms that possess primitive morpho-anatomical and structural characteristics that have remained unchanged until today.
A living being, therefore, that connects us with the origins of the earth.
The work is maded by a paper collage, the layers of paper create both the background and the animal thus allowing a dialogue and an interpenetration between the two elements, this makes the work of ripples vibrating on multiple levels.
The colors used are acrylic and the whole composition is worked by a pen drawing.
This work belongs to the series of "works that come out of the picture", the tentacles of the Nautilus, made with hemp ropes, extend in fact outside the dimension of the painting making the threedimensional work observable from various points of view.
Other strings, thinner, come out bye the openings of the shell and fall downwards: rising from the water, what had remained inside the shell comes out and falls down to the ground.
