Scraping Through the Embers #1

#1 in a sequence of paintings focusing on the life of an abused woman. I created a series of declaration pieces in oil paint. Some of which are painted on burned wood. All of my pieces tell a story of spousal abuse and a woman's struggles to find her freedom. Burnt wood is its innermost feeling, which burns to reach the surface. The red scarf ... that represents the blood that throws in its efforts to be free.
