The Said and The Unsaid #2 (Grey/Diptych)

The Said and The Unsaid #2 (Grey/Diptych)

How much does a person utter over a day, a year, a lifetime? Is it even be possible to say everything one has to say in a lifetime, is it vital, does one even wish to speak up in entirety?

‘The Said and The Unsaid #2 (Grey)’, is part of my Said and Unsaid series, an investigation into Ecriture, the idea of text. The exploration into the materiality of carbon paper, questioned the feasibility to imprint an entire area of ink or graphite from the waxed carbon paper, creating a tangible binary of words Said and Unsaid. Working with an inkless ballpoint pen, the process of inscribing abstract lines upon the carbon paper is perhaps interpreting a series of ‘filtered’ words, questioning if even the best of words can accurately and fully express one’s truest felt experiences, meanings that get lost in translation. More often than not, words said and it’s meanings often tend to fade, muddled or even erased over time, words that are left unsaid may perhaps be more resounding and reverberates far longer and deeper after the original message with it’s intentions has become irrelevant and forgotten.
