OLAUDAH EQUIANO (1745-97) was instrumental in ending the slave trade in Britain. His crowdfunded book 'The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, The African' Written by Himself, is a work of enduring literacy and historical value. The book rapidly went through nine editions in his lifetime and was how many learnt of the horrors of slavery, contributing to The Abolition of the Slave Trade Act passed in Britain in 1807.

Graphically presented in black and white the sculpture grabs fast visual attention to commit to memory for deeper contemplation. The EQUIANOs are presented on opposing black and white plinths with attached signage of letters and numbers in black and white, that were scanned from original tape typeface artwork, stating OLAUDAH EQUIANO's name and dates.
