Protests Come and Go
‘Protests Come and Go’ is a conceptual photographic project developed from 35mm analogue photography shot at public protest rallies in Dublin city throughout 2015/2016. It is, in many ways, a picture of indifference. Envisioned as a response to Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan’s televised remark that “protests come and go” during a period of unprecedented public demonstrations on the streets of Dublin City, the work effectively hijacks his point of view and creates a grim, melancholic aesthetic in order to present a dark satirical view on the indifferent nature of power and it's role in the Irish Republic.
