The Green Walls of the Olympic Park

There are endless green walls surrounding the London Olympic Park, separating it from the rest of the community of Hackney Wick. Although the community is known for its vibrant graffiti and street art culture, these green walls are strictly off limit to the local artists and only commissioned artworks are allowed for some part of the walls. What’s more, the local residents have witnessed an ongoing battle between the authority to ‘sanitize' the surrounding area by censoring certain graffiti and street art.

Yinan collects the old street and graffiti art of Hackney Wick from Google Street View, and uses the green screen technique to project them onto the endless and immaculate green walls surrounding the Olympic Park.
